AP CM orders transfers following death of children

Hyderabad, Dec 5 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today ordered the immediate transfer of officials Nilofer hospital where eight children had died allegedly due to lack of medical care.

Dr Reddy reviewed the situation in an emergency meeting with Health Minister K Rosaiah, Pricipal Secretary P K Agarwal and other top officials.

The suspended officials are Superintendent of the government-run hospital, Dr N C K Reddy, RMO Dr Laxaman Rao and Head of the Department of Paediatrics Dr Ananta Reddy The Chief Minister directed the department to take immediate action in improving the management of the hospital and patient care.

He told the department and the hospital authorities to take immediate measures to avoid recurrence of such unfortunate incidents.

Dr Reddy said the government viewed it very seriously and any negligence or lethargy on anyone's part would not be tolerated, an official release said.
