AC flays NEEPCO for ignoring local area development

Itanagar, Dec 05 (UNI) The Arunachal Congress (AC) has castigated the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEECO) authorities for ignoring development and safety of the people in the Ranganadi Hydro Electric Project (RHEP) site at Yazali under Lower Subansiri district.

The party led by its president Kamen Ringu, who visited the dam site of the project recently, expressed concern over the matter and urged the government to ensure that NEEPCO takes care development, recruitment and reservation policy for the local people.

Mr Ringu had also questioned the technical expertise used in the dam's construction report after a hole in the dam was reported few years back.

Apprehending the collapse of the dam, that would cause massive disaster in the area, the party pointed out that NEEPCO had not created any amenities for the people in the project area.

It further alleged that no safety measures have been adopted for the villagers living in downstream of the project, who are likely to face flood problems.

Stating that only a few local people were employed in the project, the party also alleged that no recruitment was made against these projects.
