118 units put to seal, Cong MLAs, Councillors meet Reddy
New Delhi, Dec 5 (UNI) Even as the Capital today witnessed renewed activity in political circles to urge the Centre to bring down the conversion charges and stop sealing of shops in DDA flats, the drive by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to seal commercial establishments in Delhi continued today with 118 units in Nazafgarh zone put to seal.
Under its sealing drive, the MCD today sealed 118 units at Rohtak Road falling in Najafgarh Zone.
With today's sealing, the total number of properties put to seal by the MCD since the drive resumed on November 8 on the orders of the Supreme Court is 2583.
A delegation of the DPCC executive committee today met Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy and urged him to bring about a reduction in conversion charges, regularisation of unauthorised colonies and to permit shops operating from DDA flats.
The delegation presented a memorandum to Mr Reddy, requesting him to regularise 1500 unauthorised colonies and also to solve other problems concerning the traders and other citizens of Delhi.
The memorandum pleaded to the Government sympathetic consideration of the demand for reduction in the proposed conversion charges for continuing the business activities in the commercial establishments and also to make provision for payment of the same in lump sum in one instalment.
Like wise, terming the charges for regularisation of unauthorised construction in residential areas as out of the reach of the common man, the delegation also requested Mr Reddy for reduction in the same.
