11 new meet records in Kerala School Games

Palakkad, Dec 5 (UNI) Three new meet records were created at the final day of 50th Kerala School Games here today taking the total new meet records to 11.

Ernakulam came first with 421 points, followed by Kottayam (134 points) and Palakkad (117 points).

In pole vault section for senior boys, new record (4.05 metres) was created by Daneesh Stephen of Mar Basil HS clearing his own previous record of 3.97 metres set last year.

In triple jump section for senior girls, Neethu Mathew of Kalladi HS Kumaramputhur Palakkad cleared 12.64 metres and created a new meet record against previous record of 12.38 metres set by Libiya V S of GVHSS, Valladam Trichur district in 2002.

The third record of the day was created in senior girls pole vault section by Seethara of St Maris HS Pala clearing 3.10 metres against previous record of 2.90 metres set by Sarithakumari C V of S P D N Kannur created in 2004.

Kerala Public Works Minister T U Kuruvila presided over the closing ceremony and distributed the prizes.
