Vogue to be launched in India in August 2006

Mumbai, Dec 4: An Indian edition of Vogue will be launched inAugust 2007, Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman of Conde Nast International,announced here today.

The magazine, to be based in Mumbai, will be the 17th edition ofVogue worldwide and represents Conde Nast's first foray into the AsianSubcontinent.

''Unlike most other Western publishers, Conde Nast will own andoperate its own magazines in India rather than publishing through ajoint venture or a license. This approach reflects Conde Nast's deepcommitment to the Indian market,''said Newhouse. ''Vogue is just thebeginning,'' he added.

Nicholas Coleridge, Vice President of Conde Nast International,who takes overall responsibility for India, said, ''India is not onlyone of the fastest-growing business markets in the world, but asub-continent with a uniquely rich and fascinating culture. To launchan Indian edition of Vogue at this time is an exhilaratingassignment.'' A number of senior appointments have been made by theManaging Director of Conde Nast India, Alex Kuruvilla. Mr Kuruvilla,the former Managing Director of MTV Networks India and Executive VicePresident of MTV Networks Asia said, ''I am excited about the new dreamteam in place - a mix of the best Indian and international talent. Wewill work to set new standards with the launch of Vogue in India.''

Anna Harvey, one of the most experienced and respected senior editorsat Conde Nast International, has been as appointed Editorial Directorof Indian Vogue. Priya Tanna has been appointed as Editor and will workalongside Ms Harvey, as well as other senior international Conde Nastexecutives.

Arjun Mehra, former publisher of L'Officiel India, has beenappointed as Publisher. Meera Kumari has been appointed as ArtDirector. Ms Kumari joins from British Vogue where she worked as ArtEditor.

Laura Silverman has been appointed as Managing Editor of IndianVogue. A Harvard graduate, Ms Silverman joins from Maxim (NY) where shewas Managing Editor for four years.

Anaita Shroff Adajania, one of India's leading stylists, has beenappointed as Fashion Director. Bandana Tewari, a fashion and lifestylejournalist, has been appointed as Fashion Features Editor.

In a separate appointment, Oona Dhabhar will assume the position of Marketing Director of Conde Nast India.

The appointments were made in conjunction with Nicholas Coleridge and Albert Read, General Manager of Conde Nast UK.

Conde Nast is one of world's leading publisher of lifestylemagazines. It publishes 120 titles in 22 markets around the world,including other titles such as Glamour, GQ, Vanity Fair, Wired andConde Nast Traveler. Its most recent launches include the highlysuccessful debut of Vogue China in September 2005. It has also recentlylaunched Vogue in Japan and Russia.

Conde Nast India is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Conde Nast International and is based in Mumbai.
