Patiala, Dec 4 (UNI) The rain gods could not prevent Uttar Pradesh from winning the quarter final tie of C K Nayadu Trophy (Under-22) against the formidable Kerala at the Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium here today.

Only 47 minutes of play was possible this morning. Resuming on overnight 113 for 5, Kerala advanced to 138 for five in 14 overs of play without losing any further wicket. The umpires were then forced to call off the play due to incessant drizzling.

Madan Mohan was unbeaten on 32 and C M Tejas was 25 not out. As per rules, UP, who were all out for a massive 400 runs in 131.3 overs on the second day of the match, were declared winners on a better run-rate.

The semi-final match is scheduled for December 7, 8 and 9 at Mohali.
