DOHA, Dec 4 (Reuters) Thailand's Pawina Thongsuk set a new world record to win the women's middleweight gold medal and end China's domination of the weightlifting at the 15th Asian Games today.

The 27-year-old former world champion lifted 142kg in the final section of the competition to beat Russian Svetlana Shimkova's record of 141kg for the clean and jerk to take sole possession of all three records in the 63kg class.

China's Ouyang Xiaofang, the reigning world champion, had to be carried from the stage after crumpling to the floor during her attempt to clean and jerk 137kgs.

Unable to return for another go, Ouyang had to setttle for silver.

Pawina, showing no sign of a reported knee injury, became the first non-Chinese to win gold in seven events over three days at the Al-Dana banqueting hall. Myanmar's Thaw Yae Faw won Bronze.
