Temperature dips after snowfall in HP
Shimla, Dec 4 (UNI) Piercing coldwave conditions continue to prevail in Himachal Pradesh following a heavy snowfall in the entire tribal belt and other high altitude areas and intermittent rain at isolated places in the state during the last 24 hours, the meterological department sources said.
The tribal valleys of Lahaul, Spiti, Hangrang, Pin and pangi are experiencing a heavy snowfall since yesterday and 13,050-foot-high Rohtang Pass recorded over two and a half-foot of snow till 0830 hrs.
The sources said over 150 cm of snow was crecorded in Losar village of Pin Valley, while Lahaul Valley recorded 30 cm of snow followed by 28 cm at Dhundi in Kullu district, 23 cm at Patseo in Lahaul Spiti district and seven cm at Kalpa in Kinnuar district.
The intermittent snowfall in the tribal areas plummeted the minimum temperature between eight to 15 degrees celsius at several places in the tribal district, the sources added.
The sources said Kinner Kailash peak and Srikhand in Kinnuar district, mighty Rohtang Pass, the gateway to Lahaul Spiti, Kunzum Pass at over 14,000 feet and Saach Pass at 15,500 feet, Dhauladhar in Kangra and Churdhar ranges in Sirmaur district are also experiencing heavy snowfall.
The tribal valleys of Lahaul and Pangi are cut off from the rest of the world following landslides at several laces triggered by heavy snowfall during the last 48 hrs, the sources said.
