SAF jawan killed in accident firing
Jagdalpur, Dec 4 (UNI) A jawan of the Special Armed Force (SAF) was killed and another Head Constable injured as an AK 47 rifle carried by an Assistant Platoon Commander Laxman Thapa went off accidentally in Usur area in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district last night, police said.
Constable Ajit Ekka was killed on the spot, while Head Constable Someshwar Sonwani, who suffered a gun shot on his leg is being treated at the Maharani Hospital here, Inspector General of Police R K Vij said.
The incident took place when the jawans of the SAF 9th battalion were patrolling the naxalite-hit area, Mr Vij said.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports said the constable was killed in a clash among the Special Armed Force officials engaged in anti-naxalite operations.
