Sabarimala to be under tight security till Dec 7
Pathanamthitta, Dec 4 (UNI) Security will be tightened at Sabarimala Sannidhanam, Pampa, Nilackal and at base camps, from December five to seven in view of the 13th anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition on December six.
Commandos and Special Security Guards (SSG) will be deployed at the Ayyappa temple, Malikapuram Devi temple and Ganapathi temple at Pampa.
On December five, after the closure of the temple till the opening on December six at 0400 hrs, no pilgrim will be allowed to climb the 18 sacred steps.
On December six access from Vadkke Nada, Padinjare Nada, Melppalam and Malikapuram to Thirumuttam will be closed.
All pilgrims should have to ascent ''Pathinettampady'' for worship and have to pass through door-frame metal detectors to reach ''Sopanam''.
Devotees will be permitted to carry only ''irumudikkettu''.
They will be prevented from dropping the offerings at 'sopanam'.
Instead, the offerings can be deposited into a copper vessel placed near 'Thidapally'.
Coconuts containing ghee will not be allowed to be emptied into the 'neythony' placed at 'Thirumuttam'.
The ghee should be poured in a vessel kept at 'Malikappuram Melppalam'. Even the ghee meant for 'abhishekam' would be subjected to security check up.
Sabarimala Special Police Officer Vijayasreekumar said importance would be given to pilgrims comfort also.
Police watch-towers will become operational at 'Pathinettampady', 'Vadakkenada', 'Malikappuram' and 'Pandithavalam'.
Devaswom officials, others on special duty and traders were directed to display identity cards.
Police pickets will be posted at Pampa sand-bed, sacrifice huts, petrol pumps and water tanks. Use of donkeys for goods transportation was banned from Pampa to 'Sannidhanam'.
Vehicles are prohibited to cross Thriveni bridge.
