Priya Entertainments to set up multiplex in WB

Kolkata, Dec 4: Priya Entertainments, a West Bengal based media entertainment group, will set up a multiplex at Sonarpur, South 24 Parganas, and several single screen movie halls in other districts of West Bengal.

Speaking to UNI today, Priya Entertainments Chairman Arijit Dutta said, ''We have started constructing a multiplex at Sonarpur, with an investment of Rs five-six crore, to attract semi-urban viewers there. The market is saturated in Kolkata, so we decided to move away from the city.'' ''We will only show quality movies in this multiplex unlike other multiplexes which are bound by pressure from the distributers,'' he claimed.

When various cinema hall owners are washing off their hands from movie business and diversifyng into other segments, Priya Entertainments is planning to foray into single screen movie business.

The company is planning to open several new single screen halls in the districts, he said. The company has already opened single screen cinema halls at Shantiniketan, Memari and Bardhman. The company also has halls in Kolkata like Priya and Star. ''However, my single screen halls are accompanied by restaurants, open air theatres, seminar halls and wedding halls.
