Polling to Roing constituency begins on a peaceful note
Itanagar, Dec 4: Polling for the by-election to the Roing assembly constituency began on a peaceful note this morning amid tight security.
Election office sources said here that the polling, which began at 0700 hrs, was largely peaceful and there were no reports of any untoward incidents from any part of the constituency.
Till 0900 hrs, 23 per cent of a total 12,2999 voters exercised their franchise in 37 polling stations to decide the fate of three candidates in the fray, Dature Miuli of the Congress, Raje Menjo(BJP) and Laeta Umbrey (Independent).
By-poll for the constituency was necessitated following the resignation of Congress MLA Mukut Mithi after he was appointed Lt Governor of Puducherry recently.
Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) have been used for voting and counting of votes would be held on December 7, the sources informed.
