Mixed luck for Indians in cue sports events

Doha, Dec 4 (UNI) India had a mixed luck in the cue events at the Asian Games here today with men snooker doubles team crashing out while medal prospect Ashok Shandilya making it to the quarterfinals of the English billiards singles.

In the men snooker doubles round, Indian pair of Manan Chandra and Yasin Merchant won against the Sri Lankan duo of W Jayawardane and W Pushpakumara 3-0 but lost to Thailand in the quarter finals 1-3.

In the men's English billiards, Shandilya crushed Ghulam Hassan Muanedi 3-0 to move into the quarterfinals.

Manan and Yasin had a easy picking in the Sri Lankan pair whom they beat 55-51, 62-38 and 69-21.

But the Indians ran into formidable Thai of A Mahitthi and P Phonbun in the next round and lost 42-65, 66-34, 41-60, 0-119.

In the English billiards, Shandilya out-classed Muanedi 100-61, 101-2, 100-10.
