Magisterial inquiry ordered into Mulky firing
Mangalore, Dec 4 (UNI) A magisterial inquiry was today ordered into the police firing in front of the Mulky police station on December 1, which claimed two lives and injured three others, even as the situation in the town was limping back to normal, with no untoward incident being reported.
The inquiry commission, headed by the Additional District Magistrate, would submit its report within three months, official sources here said.
Meanwhile, curfew was relaxed for two hours in the morning between 0900 and 1100 hrs and would again be relaxed for two hours in the evening from 1800 to 2000 hrs to enable the people to buy essential items.
Though curfew would be in force till morning tomorrow, the district administration permitted holding of the annual 'Pratista Hunnime Mahotsav' car festival tonight at the famous Sri Venkataramana temple. Despite curfew, devotees were seen thronging the temple in large numbers. Two roads in the town have been kept open for visiting the temple.
Violence broke out in the town on December 1 last following the murder of a local BJP leader by unidentified people.
