LS adopts Bill on amending order on STs
New Delhi, Dec 4 (UNI) Parliament today adopted the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes)Order Amendment Bill, 2006 with the Lok Sabha passing it with a voice vote afte a brief discussion.
The Bill to modify the list of Scheduled Tribes in the state of Bihar has already been passed by the Rajya Sabha.
The Bill, moved for consideration by Minister for Tribal Affairs P.R. Kyndiah, amends the Hindi version of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Order(Amendment) Act, 1976 so as to rectify the error occured in item 22 by substituting the word "Lohara" in place of the existing word "Lohar."
