Jamshedpur, Dec 4 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir defeated hosts Jharkhand by five wickets and earned four points on the final day of the four-day Ranji trophy plate group B tie at Keenan stadium here today.

Jammu and Kashmir reached the target of 107 in 44.1 overs losing five wickets in their second innings.

Jharkhand, trailing by 77 runs in the first innings, resumed at overnight 133 for five and lost the remaining five wickets this morning adding 50 runs as offie Sameer Khajuria ran through the host's innings to return with a magic figure of seven for 39 .

Overnight not out batsmen captain Sumit Panda and Saurabh Tiwary could only score 21 and 24 runs respectivley before succumbing to the spin web of Khajuria, who took little time to round up the tails of Jharkhand innings for 183 runs.

Chasing the target, J&K, however, tumbled losing wickets quickly but Dhruv Mahajan (36 no) and S Salaria (16 no) romped home safely.
