Indian men handball team tames Macau 31-14

Doha, Dec 4 (UNI) India hardly broke a sweat en route to their comfortable 31-14 win against Macau in a group A match of the men's handball competition at the 15th Asian Games here today.

This was a vastly improved show by India at the Al-Gharrafa Indoor Hall. Earlier, they had lost their opener 48-19 to hosts Qatar.

Naya Chandra Singh Rungbam netted 12 for India as the side logged a 17-5 half-time lead.

Apart from Rungbam, goalkeeper Ratish Kumar Pandey also shone in the match, saving a remarkable 14 of the 24 shots that came his way.

For Macau, Chau Hong Cheung and Kuok Weng Hang topped their scoring charts with three apiece. They at least improved on their opening tie of the tournament, when they were torn apart by Bahrain 53-11.
