HC directs government to complete investigation against cops

Patna, Dec 4 (UNI) Patna High Court today directed the Bihar government to ensure completion of investigation of all pending criminal cases against state police officers within one month.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice J N Bhatt and Justice Shailesh Kumar Sinha issued the directive after hearing of a public interest litigation case filed in this connection. The court sought to know from the Inspector General of Crime Investigation Department (CID) A C Verma why investigations were pending for more than 10 years in connection with the cases related to murder and kidnapping.

The petitioner informed the court that a total of 125 cases against police officers were still pending for investigation in CID despite the order of the court for early disposal of such cases.
