Haryana to construct 14,539 houses for poor

Chandigarh, Dec 4: The Haryana government has decided to construct 14,539 houses for the rural poor in under the Indira Awas Yojna in the state at a cost of Rs 37.10 crore.

Chief Parliamentary Secretary Dharambir Singh informed that the government would also spend Rs 60 crore on the repair of school buildings in the state during the current financial year.

He said a sum of Rs nine crore had also been earmarked for the repair of veterinary hospitals and other institutions during the current financial year.

Mr Dharambir said Rs 20 crore will be spend for undertaking repair of Chaupals belonging to scheduled castes and backward classes.

He said that the sports stadia would also be constructed in 120 villages of 119 blocks of the state at a cost of Rs 40 crore besides government had also decided to provide sports equipments costing Rs two lakh for each rural sports stadium.

He said government had also provided a number of facilities to the members belonging to Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) in the state.

He said limit of cash-in-hand for the sarpanch had been increased from Rs 5000 to 10,000. Similarly, the honorarium for the President of Zila Parishad had also been increased from Rs 3,000 to 4,000 and the honorarium of Vice-President from Rs 25 to Rs 3000 and the honorarium of President of Panchayat Samiti had been increased from Rs 2000 to Rs 3000.

The Chief Parliamentary Secretary said government had also decided to provide an honorarium of Rs 1000 to the members of Zila Parishad and Municipal Corporation, Faridabad. Similarly, the Members of Block Samitis and Municipal Committees would get honorarium of Rs 500 while the Members of Panchayat would get a sum of Rs 200 per month as honorarium.

He said the government had also withdrawn the condition under which those having more than two children were debarred from contesting election.
