Haryana crash to 253-run defeat against Karnataka

Mysore, Dec 4 (UNI) Former champions Karnataka scored an emphatic 253-run win over Haryana in the Elite-A Group Ranji Trophy match on the fourth and final day here today.

Facing certain defeat with a stiff target of 366 to surmount, Haryana began their second innings from the overnight score of 34 for five and were bundled out for 112 in 36.3 overs before lunch.

Left arm spinner Sunil Joshi (4 for 22) and off spinner K P Appanna (3 for 33) took the five wickets that fell today. Karnataka gained four points from the outright win, while Haryana got nil.

In their opening matches, Karnataka had lost against Baroda last week, while Haryana were beaten by Andhra. In their next match, Karnataka would play Uttar Pradesh in Kanpur from December 9.

Brief scores: Karnataka 371 and 252 for four declared bt Haryana 258 and 112 (Sunil Joshi 4/22, K P Appanna 3/33).
