Govt permits import of edible oils under Open General Licence

New Delhi, Dec 4 (UNI) The Government has permitted the import of edible oils including mustard oil under the Open General Licence (OGL), the Lok Sabha was informed today.

The step has been taken in order to ensure adequate supply of edible oils in the domestic market, Minister of State for Agriculture and Consumer Afairs Akhilesh Prasad Singh said in a written reply.

He said this would however not cover the Coconut oil. The quantum of imports depends upon commercial judgement of the importers.

Presently, there is no proposal to import Mustard oil on Government account.
