FIR against railway engineers,contractor in Bhagalpur train incident
Bhagalpur, Dec 4 (UNI) Two days after a bridge collapsed on a train here claiming 37 lives, an FIR has been filed against three engineers and a construction company assigned to dismantle the abandoned overbridge, holding them responsible for the incident. DIG (Railway) Ajay Verma told UNI that the officer in charge of GRP police station of Bhagalpur, Gaurishankar Gupta, had filed the FIR against the Chief Engineer (Construction), Eastern Railway, Assistant Engineer (Construction) and a Junior Engineer (Construction) of Bhagalpur, besides a Kolkata-based Vijay Kumar Sao and company, which had earned the contract for dismantling the dilapidated overbridge.
''The FIR has been lodged against the posts not by names,'' he clarified.
Meanwhile, all the deceased, barring seven, had been identfied while 15 others injured were undergoing treatment in various hospitals here, he said.
