Deccan Queen resumes service after three days
Pune, Dec 4 (UNI) The Pune-Mumbai 'Deccan Queen', whose five bogies were set ablaze by Dalit protestors at Ulhasnagar last Thursday following the desecration of Dr Ambdedkar statue at Kanpur, today resumed its services on its scheduled time 0715 hrs.
The incident sent shock waves across the state and the train did not run for three days till yesterday.
Central Railway PRO Y K Singh told UNI that Railways managed to get seven chair car coaches from Mumbai and attached them to the train.
The 77-year-old train suffered a loss of Rs five crore besides Rs 1.5 lakh had to be refunded due to cancellation of the train for the three days, Railway sources said.
