Cold weather claims 3 lives; UP toll at 8

Lucknow, Dec 4 (UNI) The significant dip in morning and evening temperatures in Uttar Pradesh has claimed at least three more lives since yesterday.

According to reports reaching here, three people died in Mahoba district in the last 24 hours taking the toll at eight this winter across UP.

The body of an unidentified aged woman was recovered near the panchayat house at Devganpura area of Mahoba, while two others undergoing treatment for cold in hospital succumbed in Charkhari town.

Mahoba alone accounts for five deaths out of the total eight casualties.

According to met office here, the night temperature fell much below normal in Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Allahabad divisions.

Sultanpur recorded the lowest temperature in UP at 7 degrees Celsius, which was 3 degress below normal.

In the next 24 hrs, several places in the state are expected to experience rainfall.
