BJP women wing protests BHU notice on RSS seminar

Varanasi, Dec 4 (UNI) Scores of BJP women activists today staged a demonstration against the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) notice to its teachers over attendance at an RSS seminar.

Led by municipal corporators Sadhna Vedanti and Geeta Shastri, the activists of BJP Mahila Morcha gathered this evening near the BHU main gate and tried to force way into the varsity campus to meet Vice Chancellor Panjab Singh.

The varsity securitymen used mild force to prevent them from entering the campus. However, the activists staged a dharna before the Malviya statue near the BHU gate.

On November 20/21, BHU administration had served notices to four senior teachers seeking explanation about their reported attendance at an RSS seminar here on November 11. The varsity had given 15 days to them to submit replies failing which disciplinary action was warned against them.

The BJP, RSS and allied outfits have been staging protests over the issue right from the day the notice was served.
