Army punishes jawans for rape

Guwahati, Dec 4 (UNI) The army has announced that two jawans, found guilty of outraging the modesty of a girl in Changlang in Arunachal Pradesh, have been dismissed from service and sentenced to two years' rigorous imprisonment.

A press statement issued from the Army's 4 corps headquarters at Tezpur, informed that the jawans were found guilty of the crime, committed on May 18, in a court martial held at Lekhapani in Arunachal Pradesh last week.

They were identified following an allegation by villagers of Kaikhepathar under Miao police station in Changlang district.
