AP registers growth in Manufacturing, IT and Textiles

Hyderabad, Dec 4 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh had registered an impressive growth rate in Manufacturing, IT and Taxtiles from April to September this year, according to a survey by the Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) Southern Region.

The manufacturing sector had increased its production by 13 per cent to 15 and was expecting a boom in the next couple of years. While the IT Industry enhanced its revenue by 25 to 30 per cent, the textile sector registered a growth rate of 15 per cent to 20 per cent in exports during same period.

The study also highlighted the need for better infrastructure facilities in terms of power supply and better handling of goods in ports.

The CII survey identified the agro-based industries, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, IT and Textiles as the core industrial sectors according to their contributions to the state's economy.

On the outlook for October to March next the manufacturing industry in the state was expecting a big boom and the value of production was expected to increase by 15 per cent to 20 with ten per cent to 15 in production.

The State had become a major destination for IT industry in the country and the overseas billing had gone up by a whooping 50 per cent to 60. Manpower utilisation had also gone up significantly while IT industry workforce had gone up by 20 per cent to 25 during April to September this year as against the previous six months.
