Angry mob sets vehicles ablaze following child's death

Surat, Dec 4 (UNI) An angry mob today set vehicles ablaze following the death of a 14-year-old boy after he was crushed by a dumper truck working for the Surat Municipal Corporation, at Gopi Talav area here.

The deceased, identified as Izaz Ahmed Sheikh, was crushed by the truck engaged in work for SMC excavation site yesterday night.

An angry mob, burnt down the truck and other five vehicles, Salabatpura police said.

The driver of the truck fled the spot immediately.

The mob burnt down three trailers, a crane and a car belonging to the site contractor. It also pelted stones at some fire brigade vehicles that reached the spot to douse the fire.

Police have detained 12 people and further investigations are on.
