Agartala to give reception to freedom fighters

Agartala, Dec 04 (UNI) The Agartala Andaman Cellular Jail Satabarshiki Udjapan Committee will accord a reception to 35 freedom fighters here on December six at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.

This was arranged to spread the message of the freedom fighters who fought bravely and went jail against the then British rule.

Mr Bimal Bhowmik, an Anaman prisoner from Kolkata will participate and five widows of freedom fighters from West Bengal will also attend.

The reception will be accorded to widows of 15 such fighters of the state, a spokesman for the committee said.

The former freedom fighters had created a reign of terror among the British rulers organising a movement to rid India of foreign yoke.

Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is likely to attend the function, the spokesman stated.
