46 per cent poling in Manihari byelection in Bihar
Patna, Dec 4 (UNI) An estimated 46 per cent electorate today exercised their franchise in the byelection to Manihari Assembly seat.
State election office sources said here that no untoward incident was reported from any of the 183 booths, where polling was held under tight security arrangements.
Polling was slow in the morning but it picked up as the day progressed.
Altogether 11 candidates were vying for the seat, which fell vacant due to death of Congress MLA Mobarak Hussain.
Congress nominee Hamid Mubarak was challenged among others by Viswanath Singh of the JD(U) in the byelection.
Electronic voting machines were used in all the booths and counting would take place on December seven.
