New Delhi, Dec 3 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Governor T V Rajeswar today discussed the political situation in the State with Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil in the context of the demand for the imposition of President's Rule in the Samajwadi Party-ruled State.

The meeting lasted nearly 40 minutes.

The law and order situation in the State cropped up prominently in the meeting against the backdrop of desecration of the statue of Babasaheb B R Ambedkar in Kanpur and subsequent violence in some parts of the State.

The meeting assumes significance as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been demanding President's Rule in the State which is scheduled to go to polls early next year.

The Congress has also repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction over the break down of law and order in the State.

They also discussed the complaints about irregularities in the local body elections held a month ago.
