Under Secretary Burns to travel to India
Washington, Dec 3: US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs R. Nicholas Burns will pay a December 6-9 visit to New Delhi for the US-India Strategic Dialogue and bilateral discussions.
Under Secretary Burns will meet with Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon and other senior officials to discuss bilateral and regional issues including the US-India civil nuclear cooperation initiative, defence cooperation, and trade and investment relations.
A State Department press release here today said before that, Mr Burns will visit Brussels December 4-5 to take part in the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Ministerial.
In Brussels, Under Secretary Burns will join representatives of the other 55 participating states to review the world's largest regional security organization's efforts to support human rights and stability in Europe and Eurasia.
Democracy promotion, election monitoring, arms control and conflict resolution are among the issues on the ministerial agenda, and Under Secretary Burns will deliver a speech on December 4 to the members laying out US priorities and our strong support for the organization, the release said.
