Train services restored through Bhagalpur

Bhagalpur, Dec 3 (UNI) Train services, which remained suspended since Saturday morning in Jamalpur-Sahibganj section, were restored today when Malda-bound 3484 dn Delhi-Malda town Farakka Express rolled through Bhagalpur station at 0805 hours.

Trains passing through Bhagalpur in Jamalpur-Sahibganj section under Malda division of Eastern Railway(ER) were either cancelled or diverted since 0730 hours on Saturday following an accident which claimed 37 lives leaving more than 50 others injured.

'' Work for removal of debris from the railway track continued throughout the night and track fitness crtificate was issued at 0550 hours today, '' an ER release said.

The ER authorities today officially confirmed 33 casualties, including 12 women, in the accident and put the number of injured at 24, including those six, who were released after first aid.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Railway Safety, Eastern circle, R P Agarwal would hold a statutory enquiry at Bhagalpur railway station on December four and five into the accident of 3071 up Howah-Jamalpur Express, the release said.
