Shiv Sena threatens agitation over Tarn Taran incident

Jalandhar, Dec 3 (UNI) The Shiv Sena Punjab unit today threatened to launch a statewide agitation if the state government failed to nab those Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) activists who were allegedly involved in an attack over Shiv Sena activists during demonstration in Tarn Taran today.

The party state chief Ravinder Arora told UNI here that Shiv Sainiks were about to disperse after holding demonstration and burning SAD(A) president Simaranjit Singh Mann's effigy when Mr Mann's workers assaulted them with sharp edge weapons.

Three to four Shiv sainiks, including district president Ashwani Kumar Sharma, were injured in the clash. The demonstration was held in protest against Mr Mann's alleged objectionable references against the Shiv Sena in an article.

The assailant SAD(A) activists also damaged property in a religious place near the venue, Mr Arora alleged.

He said that the police remained mute spectator during the clash and threatened that his party would launch agitation if guilty were not arrested within 48 hours.

Mr Arora also demanded action against SAD(Amritsar) president Mr Mann.
