Ransacking of Catholic School: Christians observe fast
Madurai, Dec 3 (UNI) Christian religious leaders observed a token fast in the city and at many towns in southern Tamil Nadu today to register their protest against the ransacking of a catholic school at Omalur in Salem district following the suicide of a girl student.
Archbishop Rev Peter Fernando led the fast which was attended by more than 500 people near the St Mary's cathedral here.
According to the organisers, the protest was also against the slander campaign carried out against the school administration and the nuns by vested interests and communal elements.
Elsewhere in the southern districts, Christians participated in the protest fast in large numbers.
