Professor and her maid shot dead

Patna, Dec 3: Unidentified criminals gunned down Prof Papia Ghosh of Patna Women's College and her maid Malti Devi at their residence here today.

Inspector General(IG) of Patna range Rajvardhan Sharma said the criminals barged into the residence of the professor after breaking the main gate with the motive of burglary.

He said Ms Ghosh and her maid offered resistance after which criminals opened fire, killing them on the spot.

The criminals decamped with cash, electronic gadget and a car of the deceased.

Ms Ghosh, a teacher of History in Patna Women's College, a constituent unit under Patna University, lived here with her maid Malti for the past several years.

Other angles behind the killing were also being investigated, he added.
