Maoists set free captive Block Development Officer

Latehar, Dec 3 (UNI) A block development officer, Garu block, who had been in captive since Maoist rebels abducted him on December 1, was released late last night, Police said today.

Suprintendent of Police R K Dhan said Vijay Kuzoor, the bdo, who was abducted by the extmists on December 1, was released due to immense police pressure on them.

Mr Kujur was kidnapped when he was returning from nearby Mahuatand town. The abductors had asked for a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from the family members of Mr Kuzoor for his release.

However police claimed that the officer was released without giving any ransom.
