Manavjit wins silver in individual trap event
Doha, Dec 3 (UNI) World champion Manavjit Singh Sandhu faltered in the closing stages and had to be content with a silver in the men's trap event of the Asian Games here today.
Sandhu's score of 130 (113+17) was five points adrift of the gold medallist Naser Meqlad of Kuwait who scored of 135 (114+19).
Sandhu, who was jointly leading in the early stages of the finals, lost concentration and missed a few targets towards the end which pushed him down to the second place.
The bronze in the event was won by Almudhaf Khaled also of Kuwait with a score of 128 (108+20).
Another Indian Anwer Sultan finished sixth with a score of 122 (110+12) in the finals. Sultan just could not find his rythm and shot only 12 out of 25 targets.
The third Indian in the fray Mansher Singh finished 22nd with a score of 99.
This is the second silver for India in the men's trap event after the trio of Manavjit, Sultan and Mansher finished second in the team event.
