Law students prepare film on gas tragedy

Bhopal, Dec 3 (UNI) A 27-minute-long film 'Dreams to disaster and aftermath' on 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy -- that killed more than 15,000 and left several thousands maimed-- has been produced by ten students of the National Law University Institute (NLUI).

Directed by Mr Shubham Khare, the movie was showcased during the 23rd Bar Council of India's moot court competition last night.

The law students -- all of whom were 20 years old and born after the disaster -- tried to show the gas tragedy -- which forms a whole chapter under 'Law of torts' unit -- from their viewpoint.

The film depicted the aftermath and the effect on the lives of people after the tragedy that continued till today but people were still hopeful.

Mr Khare said he got inspiration to produce the movie from Professor Rajeev Khare.

Ms Smriti Pradhan shared the responsibility as Assistant Director, while write-up and script were prepared by Mr Ashish Mukhi, Ms Swati Rai and Ms Shruti Rawat. Research and selection of videography spots were carried out by Ms Niharika Maske and Ms Shilpa Bijoria. Mr Mukhi and Mr Khare edited the film.

The students were trying to get the film broadcast on local television channels in order to present their viewpoint to common people.
