India team's humiliation continues in Sepak Takraw event
Doha, Dec 3 (UNI) The rag tag Indian men Sepak Takraw team's humiliation continued as they were routed 0-3 by Myanmar in the Asian Games here today.
Their women counterpart were no better as they surrendered to Thailand by an identical margin.
Yesterday, the Indian men lost to Malaysia and this afternoon they played like novices to lose to Myanmar.
In fact, the very presence of a team claiming to represent the country at this level is itself very embarrassing .
The players had no clue as how to play against strong teams and if the idea was to give them the exposure, it failed because in the process they got exposed.
Myanamar thrashed India 129-65 and the winners led in three Regus. Indians ralied 33-45 in the first Regu, 32-42 in the second Regu but failed to field the full team in the last Regu and the winners claimed it 42-0.
In the women's section, Thailand overwhelmed India 126-24 after leading 42-10, 42-8 and 42-6 in the three Regus respectively.
The women's were totally at loss so were the Indian media persons present who could not fathom why such a team has been sent to represent the country at the Asian Games.
Sepaktakraw is not even a part of the 2010 Commonwealth Games and if they are here to give them exposure for a possible 2014 Asian Games in New Delhi, then it can be called a very far reaching futuristic move.
