Harveen Srao misses Bronze by whisker
Doha, Dec 3 (UNI) Despite outscoring the eventual medal winners in the final round, Harveen Srao's poor qualifying round score saw the markswoman miss the Bronze by a whisker -- one tenth of a point to be precise -- in the 10m Air Pistol for women individual event of the Asian Games here today.
This was a so-near-yet-so-far story for the shooter, who had joined hands with compatriots Sonia Rai and Shweta Chaudhary to win the Silver in the team event.
Harveen shot 383 (95,98,94,96) in the qualification and that proved to be her undoing. She shot 01.5 (8.8,10.3,10.5,9.5,10.1,10.4,10.5,10.6,10.1,10.7) for the highest score in the final but in the end, it proved too late and her total of 484.5 was marginally bettered by Korean Byun Hee Kim who shot 484.6 (386+98.6) for the Bronze.
China's Luna Tao totalled 490.3 (391+99.3) to win the Gold with a new Asian Games record, while compatriot Wenjun Guo aggregated 487 (389+98) to bag the Silver.
