Gowda slams imposition of ban orders in Mysore

Mysore, Dec 3 (UNI) Former prime minister and Janata Dal (S) president H D Deve Gowda today strongly condemned the authorities imposing prohibitory orders in the city for the in Chamundeshwari assembly bypoll tomorrow.

When newsmen sought reaction from Mr Gowda, he alleged that the Congress party was preparing the grounds for imposition of the President's Rule in the state as indicated by the former chief minister and Leader of the Opposition Dharam Singh.

Mr Gowda also had written letter to Chief Election Commissioner asking how and why he had taken, what he called 'bizarre and intriguing' steps, in the constituency where even the opposition parties had not lodged a single police complaint pertaining to the law and order.

''The actions and reactions of the Election Commission hav created a fear psychosis in the minds of the peace loving and law abiding voters of the constituency. This may prevent many of them from exercising their rightful franchise,'' he feared.

Meanwhile the city police have been making efforts to check the various articles including money and liquor into the constituency from different parties.
