Sonbhadra, Dec 3 (UNI) The ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) today said the coming Assembly elections next year ''are very crucial for the democratic system as it will change the political equation of the entire northern Uttar Pradesh''.

After attending the SP Youth Training Camp here, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav said the Assembly polls would change the history of Indian politics as well as the political equation of the entire northern UP.

''Social equality, social justice and change in the present system is possible only if people give the SP a chance to come to power again,'' said the former Defence Minister.

Claiming that over the years, the SP has developed into the most popular party in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar and Karnataka, Mr Yadav said, ''People will never forget development works done by the present government. Therefore, I am seeing the results of the Assembly polls through rose-coloured spectacles.'' The Chief Minister accused leaders of Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of hatching a conspiracy against the the SP, saying it seemed they were against the development works.

''They judge everything that SP does with a jaundiced eye,'' the party supremo alleged.

Mr Yadav further accused former Prime Minister Vishvanath Pratap Singh of being an ''agent'' of multi-national companies.

''The Indian society is plagued by illiteracy, poverty and unemployment. No other political party, except for SP, made efforts to curb these three terrorists from the society,'' he claimed.
