BJP rejects Sachar committee report: Thawarchand Gehlot

Shajapur, MP, Dec 3 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh BJP unit today said it totally rejected the Justice Rajinder Sachar committee report as its suggestions would create social disharmony.

BJP General Secretary Thawarchand Gehlot told UNI here that the BJP was sensitive towards backward class people but opposed reservation on the basis of religion and favoured removing backwardness on economic grounds.

He blamed the Congress for the present socio-economic condition of Muslims, SCs and STs in the country, pointing out that it had secured votes from them on the promise of removing their backwardness and ruled the country for several years.

The BJP leader criticised the details of the suggestions of the committee appearing in a newspaper before being tabled in Parliament.

He also attacked the committee's composition saying it had no woman member despite the fairer sex making up a large population of the Muslim community in the country.
