BJP intensifies agitation over BHU-RSS issue
Varanasi, Dec 3 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here today intensified agitation over the Benaras Hindu University (BHU) notice to senior teachers regarding their attendance at an RSS seminar.
Led by former Uttar Pradesh finance minister Harishchandra Srivastava, BJP workers staged a demonstration before the Malviya statue near the BHU main gate.
The agitating BJP workers demanded that BHU administration immediately withdraw the notice to the teachers and Vice-Chancellor Panjab Singh shed his anti-RSS stand.
Yesterday, local MLA and senior party leader Shyam Deo Roy Chaudhury had led the demonstration at the same spot over the issue.
The BHU administration had on November 20/21 last served notices to four senior teachers seeking explanation about their reported attendance at an RSS seminar organised on November 11. The teachers have been given a time of 15 days to submit their replies failing which disciplinary action will be initiated against them.
