Telecom hub by Bharti in Bengal soon

Kolkata, Dec 3: Bharti Group will create a telecom hub cum Research and Development Centre.

Bharti group Chairman said here today that the West Bengal government would handover five acres of land for this project.

However, he refused to divulge any details about investment plans.

''Apart from a telecom hub, we will also create a R&D facility,'' he added.

The company is also planning to foray into food processing and horticulture sector. ''West Bengal has a large consumer market. Food processing sector has a lot of potential. We will enter the state with horticulture, contract and alternate farming plans,'' he added.

Mr Mittal said, ''We have started similar contract farming and horticulture projects in Haryana in 500 acres of land. We will discuss similar plans with West Bengal government.''
