Arish Alam puts UP in commanding position
Patiala, Dec 3 (UNI) Kerala are precariously placed at 113 for five in 49 overs against Uttar Pradesh in the quarter-final of the CK Nayadu Trophy (Under-22) on the second day here at the Dhruv Pandove Stadium.
Overnight 261 for five UP resumed their innings today on a confident note. Arish Alam, who was 66 not out overnight, went on to score an authoritative century (107) which contained 13 glorious boundaries. The other batsmen to contribute to the massive UP total of 400 in 131.3 overs, were Mohammad Arif (41) and Ashwani Mandani (56) which contained 10 fours.
For Kerala, P Prasant and Sunil V S took four wickets each, giving away 67 and 60 runs respectively.
Batting on a perfect wicket, the Kerala batsmen succumbed to the wily UP bowlers. Only Rohan Prem, who scored a double century against Delhi just the other day here, scored 49 and Abhilash Hegde 27. At close, Madan Mohan with 21 not out and Tejas CM on 11 not out were holding the fort, though the task to overhaul UP total looked totally bleak tomorrow.
