AP govt to allocate more funds for Muslims: YSR
Hyderabad, Dec 3: Andhra Pradesh government will double the allocations for Haj Committee and increase the budget for Muslim scholarships to Rs 33 crore next year, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy said today.
Releasing 'Haj guide' for the Haj pilgrims here, Dr Reddy said the government had increased the budget for minority scholarships from Rs 4 crore to Rs 10 crore. This would be increased to Rs 33 crore next year, he added.
Stating that the government also allocated sizeable amount for the development of masjids and special grant had been released to provide vocational training to the students studying in madarasas, Dr Reddy said the multi-storied Haj houses would be utilised to provide training to Muslim unemployed youth.
He said the government was making all efforts to provide five per cent reservation to Muslims in education and employment and mentioned that the issue was in the apex court.
