18 people arrested for obscene activities

Vijayawada, Dec 3 (UNI) Eighteen persons including three women were arrested on charges of obscene activities at Bhavanipuram island here last night, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police (West) Vijayayawada today.

Addressing a press conference here he said, Praveen Kumar, Manager of a business firm in the city, had arranged a party to his dealers in Bhavanipuram island last night. He brought three women aged all 22 years from neighbouring districts for the dealers enjoyment. On tip of information the police party raided the place, and arrested 18 people including the women and the Manager of the firm. The arrested would be produced before the court tomorrow, he added.

In another incident today police arrested one person on charges of murder. Two persons R Ramakrishna and Sivaprasad went to the house of K Vemlatachalam (72) last night in housing board colony area and asked them to take an injection to prevent dengue fever. He and his wife took the injection and after a while his wife went unconscious.

The man claimed that the two people then tried to tie his neck with towel and tried to kill him and tried to snatch a chain.

Meanwhile, the old man shouted loudly and the neighbours came to the scene. By that time they escaped. On the complaint of the injured, the police arrested Siva Prasad and efforts were going to nab the other culprit, he added.
