1,400 non-voters evicted from Karimnagar constituency
Karimnagar, Andhra Pradesh, Dec 3 (UNI) On the directions of the Election Commission, police today forced 1,400 people of various political parties out of the Karimnagar parliamentary constituency as their names were not figured in the voters list.
Sobha Rani, wife of the Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhara Rao who is a candidate in the by poll, was also asked to leave the constituency.
While Mr Rao's family members alleged that Ms Rani was sent out despite pleas that Mr Rao, a diabetic and blood pressure patient, required her assistance, police said she had voluntarily left the constitutency.
Police confirmed that they had enforced the eviction of Mr Rao's son Ram and daughter Kavitha who were conducting door-to -door campaign.
Meanwhile, a non-bailable warrant had been issued to Mr Rao by a court in Jagityala for raiding the house of one Malla Reddy by the leader and his followers.
Malla Reddy, a supporter of Congress candidate T Jeevan Reddy, had lodged a complaint with police that Mr Rao led a band of supporters and raided his house on suspicion that he was distributing money and liquor to the voters.
As Mr Rao failed to attend the court, an NBW had been issued.
